Life under Lloyd “Samaita” Mutasa
It has been six matchdays since Lloyd Mutasa took over as head coach at MWOS FC. The well-decorated gaffer has gone unbeaten in all six matches, and he is building towards challenging for promotion this season.
A few players have surely flourished under Lloyd Mutasa since he took over. Chris Samakwere, the deputy skipper, is one of many to have had a good run of form. Initially benched in his first two games under Lloyd Mutasa, Samakwere came to life when he was brought back into the squad. He has been influential in the midfield and in attack, managing to score a goal of the season contender against Karoi United FC. His contribution to the team has been invaluable both on and off the pitch.
Tinashe Giya quickly stepped up to the role of center back for the Punters under “Samaita”. Giya has been pivotal for the team. Though he plays as a center-back, he feels he is more of a box-to-box player, running up and down the pitch for the full 90 minutes. To add on to his exceptional defending skills, Giya is an excellent free-kick taker, and coach Lloyd has allowed him to take a few in the last few games. Simbarashe Musendami has proven himself a worthy member of the squad. He started for the Punters against Come Again FC, and he netted his first goal for the Punters in the second half. He is one of the players to look out for as the season progresses.
Arthur Banda and Jeremiah Makangire have been exceptional strikers. Jeremiah has been unlucky, as he hasn’t netted a goal in his last three appearances. Arthur Banda and Marshal Kawashu have both scored three goals and they are the joint top goal scorers for MWOS FC this season. Overall, the team has had a noticeable increase in form, although there is a need to improve the squad’s home form.
