Lloyd Mutasa optimistic about the future

MWOS Ngoni Stadium was set ablaze last weekend as the Punters recorded a convincing win over Neighbours Chegutu Pirates FC, on matchday 19 of the Northern Region Soccer League. The Punters did well to lift the spirits of their fans by scoring two goals and keeping a clean sheet in the process.

MWOS FC dominated the game for the greater part of the first half, but Chegutu Pirates seemed solid at the back and could not be penetrated. The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute through new boy Livingstone Genti. He struck a low shot from outside the box, and he beat the goalkeeper to put the Punters one goal up. The goal sent the Punters to the halftime break with boosted morale, as they hoped to maintain their lead and take all three points.

Much like the first half, the second half was characterized by solid attacking play by MWOS FC. Chegutu Pirates did their best to keep the Punters out, but their efforts eventually failed in the 62nd minute. The new boy, Cleopas Kapupurika, dribbled past a few defenders and slotted home from within the box. The goal cemented the objective of getting all three points.

MWOS FC still sits fifth on the NRSL table, nine points behind league leaders Black Mambas. Head Coach Lloyd Mutasa was optimistic about the future and said that he and his boys were going to take it one game at a time, try not to drop points, and hope that it will lead them to the top of the league.
