“We are a big team, we need to believe it first” – Lloyd Mutasa.
Newly appointed head coach Lloyd Mutasa has expressed how he feels about MWOS FC after taking charge of them for their first match in the Northern Region Soccer League. The Punters played a draw at MWOS Ngoni Stadium on Saturday, a game many thought they were going to win after taking the lead in the 53rd minute.
“The boys need to come to terms with the fact that they are playing for a big team, and they now need to start playing like a big team”, said Lloyd Mutasa. He went on to talk about the quality of the players in the squad and how they can produce results if they put their minds to it. MWOS FC currently sit in eighth position on the league table, six points below league leaders Ngezi Under 19. Lloyd Mutasa’s task after his appointment is to try and close that gap.
The Punters face Concession United FC on Thursday, May 11, at Muriel Stadium, and then head back home to face the Golden Eagles at MWOS Ngoni Stadium at the weekend. These two will be crucial encounters for the Punters, as they will be hoping to get maximum points and go up the league table. The Punters have failed to score more than two goals in all six matches played so far. The team will surely be working on trying to convert more of their chances into goals.
Jim Gwara is still out with a knee injury, and Admire Dzumbunu is uncertain for the next encounter. The rest of the squad is expected to be fit, with high expectations on the shoulders of the duo strike force of Jeremiah Makangira and Arthur Banda to try and score goals. Captain Marshal Kawashu is expected to lead the troops, with fan favourite Kudzai Zhuwaki and Tafadzwa Nyabunze being part of the midfield trio. Blessing Mwandimutsira is expected to be in goal, and his expertise and command from goal are expected to keep more clean sheets going into the next matches. Lee Runodamoto, Robson Chaleka, Jordan Pedro, and Clive are also expected to show up for the punters in the coming weeks.
