Back to winning ways?

The MWOS FC camp was dealt a tough blow on matchday fourteen of the Northern Region Soccer League. The Punters faced the league leaders, Black Mambas FC, who despite playing below average, managed to win by a goal. The defeat did not only mean a loss in points but also a sting to the pride of the Punters, who had not lost a home game in the history of the club.

The Punters dominated the visitors in the first half. A lot of chances were created but the Punters failed to take the lead. Clive Kwangwari, Bighton Banda, Authur Banda, and Kudzai Zhuwaki registered shots on target; however, despite all the pressure and good play, Black Mambas FC’s goalkeeper was in good form and managed to keep them from scoring. In the second half, the Punters maintained their rhythm, but they switched off in the 62nd minute and allowed a freekick to shake their nets. The Punters increased their intensity after conceding; Marshal Kawashu, Martin Nhubu, and Tadiwa Zvawo were introduced in the second half, but they failed to produce an equaliser. The match ended 0-1 in favour of the visitors, with MWOS FC now eight points behind the league leaders.

The Punters face 12th-placed Commando Bullets FC at the barracks on Saturday, June 17. Bullets have been struggling in form and they haven’t recorded a win in their last five matches. MWOS FC will head into the encounter as favourites as they have an impressive away form. The Punters seem to get better results away than at home which has seen most fans optimistic that the encounter against Commando Bulets FC might bring the punters back to winning ways. Robson Chaleka is still out with a suspension after receiving a red card against Come Again FC. Striker Jim Gwara is still out with a knee injury and hsi participation in the match is still a doubt. Head coach Lloyd Mutasa is optimistic and believes the boys can produce a positive result on the day.
