MWOS FC Claim Victory Over ZPC Kariba at Baobab Stadium

Saturday’s clash at Baobab Stadium saw MWOS FC put on a dominant display as they edged past ZPC Kariba 1-0 in a match brimming with intensity, attacking flair, and resolute defending.

From the first whistle, MWOS FC were relentless in asserting their authority on the pitch. Leading the charge was none other than Nigel Matinha, who proved to be a constant thorn in ZPC Kariba’s side. Matinha’s energy and creativity lit up the opening exchanges—firing shots at goal, stretching the opposition defence, and carving out golden opportunities with his quick feet and sharp vision.

By the 12th minute, MWOS FC had already registered a series of attempts on target, forcing the ZPC Kariba goalkeeper into multiple top-drawer saves. It was a testament to the quality of MWOS

FC’s attacking build-up and the sheer tenacity of the squad, who were clearly hungry to make a statement in front of the home crowd.

The pressure nearly paid off in the 25th minute when MWOS FC was awarded a free kick right on the edge of the box. Billy Veremu, the club’s current top goal scorer, stepped up and struck a sensational curling effort that left the crowd on their feet—but heartbreakingly, the ball cannoned off the post before being hastily cleared by a stretched ZPC backline.

Despite dominating large spells of the first half, the breakthrough remained elusive as both sides headed into the break locked at 0-0.

The second half began with tactical adjustments as MWOS FC made two early substitutions (Banda for Saunyama and Makangira for Mapoka), injecting fresh legs and maintaining the intensity in the final third. That strategic switch bore fruit in the 60th minute. A pinpoint cross from the right found Billy Veremu perfectly positioned in the box, and the forward made no mistake, powering a header past the ZPC keeper to give MWOS FC the lead they thoroughly deserved.

With the home fans in full voice, MWOS pushed for a second, unleashing wave after wave of attack. Nigel Matinha continued to torment the ZPC defence with his movement and ball control, while the midfield kept the tempo high and the pressure relentless.

Though the second goal proved elusive, the one that mattered had already been secured. The backline held firm, and the final whistle confirmed a 1-0 victory—another vital three points for MWOS FC in their promising Premier League campaign.

With standout performances across the park and a well-earned clean sheet, MWOS FC continue to show why they belong at this level.
