
MWOS FC Secure Hard-Fought Point Away to Green Fuel FC
MWOS FC remain top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after a thrilling 1-1 draw against Green Fuel FC at the Green Fuel Arena on Matchday 13. In what was always going to be a tough away fixture, the team showed great resilience and attacking intent in front of a packed crowd.
With Sergio Murambiwa returning to the starting line-up and the in-form duo of Arthur Banda and Billy Veremu leading the attack once again, MWOS FC came into the game with a sense of confidence. The early exchanges were lively, with both teams testing each other. Green Fuel had a dangerous free-kick in the 7th minute, but it was dealt with well. Jeremiah Makangira launched a promising attack soon after, but the hosts managed to clear their lines.
In the 20th minute, Nigel Matinha delivered a curling corner, but Veremu just couldn’t connect cleanly. Despite the early pressure, it was Green Fuel who opened the scoring and took a 1-0 lead into the break.
MWOS came out determined in the second half. Just seven minutes in, Matinha swung in a pinpoint cross which was met brilliantly by Veremu – a powerful header into the back of the net for the equaliser.
In the 70th minute, Mensah dazzled the crowd with a fantastic move, beating two defenders and delivering a perfect cross. Mapoka rose well but his header narrowly missed the target, gliding over the bar.
Despite late pressure from both sides, the match ended 1-1. A hard-earned point away from home keeps MWOS FC at the summit of the table, showcasing the team’s determination and strength as serious title contenders.
