MWOS FC’s Home Unbeaten Run Ends
Our proud unbeaten record at MWOS Ngoni Stadium came to an unfortunate end as FC Platinum claimed a 2-0 victory in a hard-fought Matchday 21 clash in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Coming into the match, we knew the challenge ahead—facing the league’s last remaining unbeaten side. Determined to bounce back from last weekend’s narrow loss to Yadah FC, we started with intent.
Tinotenda Mutyambizi showcased his vision with a brilliant through ball to release Tafadzwa George, who was inches offside in what could have been an early opener. Soon after, Billy Veremu found himself one-on-one with the keeper but couldn’t convert the chance.
FC Platinum’s clinical edge proved decisive in the 18th minute when Marowa punished a defensive lapse to put them ahead. We pushed hard for an equaliser, but frustration grew, with Sergio Murambiwa picking up a yellow for a strong challenge on Jubane just before halftime.
Looking to shift momentum, we introduced new signings Abubakar Moffat and Innocent Masiiwa at the break, replacing George and Mensah. However, our hopes took another blow seven minutes into the second half when Phiri doubled Platinum’s lead with a composed finish.
Despite late changes, including Salif Cheya’s introduction to replace Veremu, we struggled to break down a resolute Platinum defence. The defeat not only marks our first home loss of the season but also extends our winless run to two matches.
With the title race heating up, we must now regroup quickly and refocus as we aim to get our campaign back on track. FC Platinum, meanwhile, continue their strong form, further establishing themselves as title contenders.
