Queens’ Unbeaten Run Rolls On as U19s Face a Setback

MWOS FC Queens continue to build serious momentum since the league’s restart, extending their unbeaten streak with a hard-fought point against Sheedza Queens at MWOS Ngoni Stadium this past weekend. The draw follows two emphatic five-star performances against Dynamos Queens and ZRP Queens, securing seven points from a possible nine.

Head Coach Prim Serima acknowledged the desire for maximum points at home but recognised the quality of their opponents: “We obviously fancied all three points here at Ngoni, but we’ll settle for a share of the spoils against a very good Sheedza side – their league position reflects that. We dug deep, got a result, and now we shift focus to getting back to winning ways next time out.”

The point solidifies the Queens’ position in the upper half of the table, now sitting handily in fifth place with 17 points. Their form, particularly the battering ram display against Dynamos, signals they are a team on the up, posing a stiff test for any opponent.

In stark contrast, the mood around the MWOS FC U19s is one of deepening concern after a demoralising 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Ngezi U19s. This heavy defeat brought a shuddering halt to a mini-revival that had seen them grind out two valuable away draws since the break.

The result leaves the U19s rooted to the foot of the Northern Region Soccer League table, a precarious position with just 19 points garnered from 22 gruelling fixtures. The heavy loss exposed defensive frailties and heaps pressure on the young squad. They now face a monumental task to haul themselves off the bottom and stage a great escape from the looming threat of relegation.

While the Queens march forward with credit in the bank, the U19s urgently need to regroup, show character, and find a way to stop the rot if they are to turn their season around during the crucial run-in.
