Building Footballers, Shaping Men: Inside the MWOS FC U19 Technical Team

Behind every training session, tactical adjustment and improvement on the pitch is a technical team committed to developing not only better footballers, but better young men.

The MWOS FC Under-19 technical department is built on experience, discipline and the belief that player development extends far beyond matchday. Their role is not only to prepare players for the next game, but for senior football and life beyond it.

Leading the group is Head Coach Wonder Ngoko, a former CAPS United and Black Aces midfielder whose leadership and experience have shaped his coaching philosophy. After coaching several Northern Region Division One clubs, including Karoi United, Ngoko now leads the Young Punters with a strong emphasis on organisation, discipline and continuous improvement.

One quality that defines Coach Ngoko is humility. He consistently credits his fellow coaches for the team’s progress, believing success belongs to the entire technical team rather than one individual.

Assistant Coach Peter Ngwenya complements that philosophy with his excellent relationship with the players. His calm approach, tactical guidance and ability to communicate effectively help create an environment where young footballers can grow with confidence.

Goalkeeper Coach Steven Wade, himself a former goalkeeper, believes there is no permanent first-choice goalkeeper. Every training session is an opportunity to compete, a mindset that has contributed to the remarkable development of Rashy Guranungo and Takunda Manomano.

Fitness Coach Enos Dube ensures the squad meets the physical demands of the game through consistent, disciplined training, while Team Manager Aubrey Mudzingwa keeps everything running behind the scenes by managing player registration, licensing and team logistics.

Together, the technical team places great importance on respect, discipline and listening. Tactical awareness and positional discipline are constantly reinforced, while mistakes are viewed as opportunities to learn rather than reasons for criticism.

Their work extends beyond football. Players are taught responsibility, character and discipline, preparing them not only for senior football but for life as young adults.

At MWOS FC U19, developing the complete person is just as important as developing the complete player, and that philosophy continues to shape the future of the Young Punters.
