Double Cup Mission Begins as We Learn Our Opponents

We have discovered our opponents for the Round of 32 of the inaugural 2026 Munhumutapa Challenge Cup following yesterday’s televised draw in Harare.

The draw handed our senior team a mouthwatering all-Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash against Herentals FC, while our Young Punters were paired with Mashonaland East side Chatidhege FC.

Our senior team’s fixture against Herentals promises to be one of the standout ties of the Round of 32.

Herentals have enjoyed a strong Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign and have established themselves among the league’s most competitive sides this season.

The Students also hold recent bragging rights after edging us 1-0 at MWOS Ngoni Stadium earlier this season through a first-half strike.

That result provides extra motivation as we look to turn the tables in a knockout encounter with a place in the last 16 on the line.

Meanwhile, our Young Punters will take on Chatidhege FC, one of the 14 lower-division clubs that successfully progressed through the preliminary rounds to reach the national draw.

Chatidhege secured their place in the Round of 32 after a convincing 3-1 victory over Cheetahs, finishing as Mashonaland East’s remaining representatives in the competition.

Our U19 side earned its place in the main draw with a determined 1-0 victory over Chapungu at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.

The tie against Chatidhege presents another opportunity for our young squad to showcase the strength of our player development pathway on the national stage.

With both our senior team and U19 side still in contention, we are proud to have representation in both sections of the men’s competition.

Attention now shifts from the draw room to the training ground as we begin preparations for two important Round of 32 fixtures from the 7th to the 9th of August.

Our senior team will be aiming to overcome familiar Premier Soccer League opposition, while our Young Punters will be eager to continue their impressive cup journey against another ambitious lower-division side.

We look forward to two exciting knockout encounters as we continue our pursuit of Munhumutapa Challenge Cup success.
