MWOS FC U19 Advance with 3-1 Victory Over Chatidhege

MWOS FC U19 secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Chatidhege at MWOS Ngoni Stadium to advance in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup round of 32.

The Young Punters started the contest with good intensity, with both sides producing a high-tempo opening.

Blessing Mazambani tested the Chatidhege goalkeeper early with an effort from distance, while Tinashe Nyatsambo and Kean Maravanyika combined well down the left.

MWOS FC U19 took the lead in the 17th minute when Tanaka Maseko produced a fine pass for Timmy Kushata, who calmly finished to put the hosts ahead.

Chatidhege responded by creating pressure of their own and eventually found the equaliser in the 30th minute.

The sides went into the half-time break level at 1-1 despite further opportunities for both teams.

The second half saw the Young Punters continue to push forward in search of another breakthrough.

Maseko remained a constant threat on the right flank and was involved in several promising attacking moves.

In the 63rd minute, Maseko raced down the right before delivering for Kushata, who calmly finished to restore the lead.

The hosts continued to control the attacking momentum, with Kushata coming close to completing his hat-trick on several occasions.

Their pressure paid off again in the 73rd minute when Kushata threaded a fine ball through to Maseko on the left.

Maseko made no mistake with the finish, firing home to extend the advantage to 3-1.

Head Coach Wonder Ngoko made changes to manage the game, with Patrick Manyoni, Terrence Ephraim, Dembele Nyamhandu, Farai Dzingai and Pardon Nyandoro all introduced at different stages.

The defensive unit also remained composed during the closing stages as Chatidhege searched for a way back into the contest.

Goalkeeper Tawedzerwa Guranungo and the defensive line dealt with the visitors’ attacking moments to protect the two-goal advantage.

The final whistle confirmed a 3-1 victory, sending MWOS FC U19 through to the next stage of the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup.

Head Coach Wonder Ngoko reflected on his side’s performance against Chatidhege.

The Young Punters will now turn their attention to the next challenge as their cup journey continues.
