Queens Put on a Show Before Fixture Ends Prematurely
MWOS FC Queens produced a dominant display against Dynamos Queens on Sunday, racing into a 4–0 lead before the Northern Region Women’s League fixture was brought to a premature end in the 25th minute.
The Queens made their intentions clear from the opening whistle, taking control of proceedings and consistently putting the Dynamos defence under pressure. Their attacking movements were purposeful, with the Punters showing intensity in possession and clinical execution in the final third.
Stella Denya opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a composed finish after the Queens carved out an opportunity in the attacking phase. The forward doubled her tally just four minutes later, producing another quality finish following a well-worked move from the flank to put MWOS Queens 2–0 ahead.
The Punters continued to press for more and were rewarded again in the 17th minute when Patricia Mwanza unleashed a superb strike to make it 3–0.
The Queens remained firmly in control, with their attacking momentum showing no signs of slowing down. Tawananyasha Mandishara then added a fourth in the 23rd minute, brilliantly rounding her marker before finding the back of the net to complete a blistering opening spell for the Queens.
With MWOS FC Queens leading 4–0, the match was subsequently halted following an injury to the Dynamos Queens goalkeeper. Unable to continue, the goalkeeper could not be replaced as Dynamos Queens did not field their second-choice goalkeeper. As a result, the fixture could not continue, with match officials subsequently regarding the game as abandoned.
Speaking after the match, Head Coach Primrose Serima expressed her satisfaction with the performance produced by her charges.
“I am very happy with the play displayed by the girls. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to finish the game, but they managed to put in quite a show.”
The Queens will now turn their attention to their next assignment as preparations resume for another Northern Region Women’s League encounter against Black Mambas Queens at Mkushi Police Academy.
With the performance providing plenty of encouragement, the Punters will return to the training ground focused on maintaining their standards, sharpening their preparations and carrying the same attacking intent into their next fixture.
