Tembo: Standing Tall for the Young Punters

Strong in the air, composed under pressure, and always willing to put his body on the line, Kean “Tembo” Maravanyika has become one of MWOS FC U19’s most dependable performers in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old Zimbabwean midfielder operates in front of the back four, providing protection for the defence while helping the team transition into attack. Wearing the number 18 shirt, Kean has established himself as a commanding presence in the heart of midfield through his positional discipline, physicality, and determination.

Standing at 178cm, Kean thrives in aerial contests, consistently winning crucial headers in both defensive and attacking situations. His willingness to challenge for every ball and his fearless approach make him an important figure whenever MWOS FC U19 are under pressure.

His growing influence has also been reflected in the numbers. So far this season, Kean has featured in 16 league matches and three Munhumutapa Cup fixtures, contributing two goals and two assists. His latest goal came during the Young Punters’ trip to Chinhoyi against FC Oden, rewarding another hardworking display and highlighting his ability to contribute beyond his defensive responsibilities.

Originally from Kadoma, Kean began his football journey at Karoi United before joining MWOS FC U19, where he has continued to develop into a reliable and hardworking midfielder. His preferred right foot, intelligent positioning, and commitment to the team’s defensive structure have made him an integral part of the squad.

Whether breaking up opposition attacks, dominating aerial battles, or stepping forward when his team needs him most, Kean “Tembo” Maravanyika continues to prove why he is one of the Young Punters’ most consistent performers.
