Timmy Kushata’s Composure Seals U19 Cup Win; U17s Take Positives from Triple C Test
The MWOS FC U19 squad marched on in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup with a fiercely contested 1-0 victory over Chapungu FC at Ascot Stadium this afternoon.
The decisive moment of this round arrived just before the interval in the 40th minute, courtesy of a brilliant display of attacking awareness from Timmy Kushata.
Finding himself completely isolated in a tense one-versus-two situation, our forward maintained absolute composure under pressure.
As the Chapungu defender and goalkeeper hesitated, Kushata stayed sharply focused and expertly guided the ball home to give the Young Punters a crucial advantage.
The squad then showed immense tactical discipline, fiercely protecting their lead through to the final whistle to secure a massive result on the road.
Speaking after the victory, Coach Cephus was absolutely full of praise for the squad’s outstanding effort.
“The boys played incredibly well today, and they made us all very proud,” the coach beamed.
He was particularly impressed by the sheer intensity shown by the dressing room throughout the ninety minutes.
“They played with a level of desire like we’ve never seen before; I truly admired the immense work rate and unity shown by all of the players,” he noted.
Elsewhere, the MWOS FC U17 squad showcased fantastic resilience despite falling to a 3-1 defeat away to Triple C FC.
While the final scoreline at the Triple C grounds did not go our way, the tough fixture provided a highly valuable learning experience for our developing side.
Competing against a strong opponent in the Mash West D2B league, the boys battled exceptionally hard from the very first whistle.
Despite the result, the squad demonstrated exactly the kind of gritty application required to succeed in youth football.
Reflecting on the tough result, Coach Tendai Nyathi remained highly optimistic and entirely focused on the future development of his promising squad.
“Tripple C played well today,” he acknowledged in his post-match assessment.
“We tried our best to create chances and also defend resolutely, but it simply was not our day.”
Refusing to let heads drop, the coach insisted the squad would immediately regroup on the training pitch.
“We will take the harsh lessons from this game, dust ourselves down, and move straight on to preparing for the next one,” Nyathi concluded.
