Young Punters Eye Another Statement Victory as They Visit Promotion-Chasing Harare City

Fresh from an impressive Munhumutapa Cup qualifying victory over Chapungu FC at Ascot Stadium in Gweru, MWOS FC U19 return their attention to league action with another stern examination awaiting them in the MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League.

The Young Punters travel to Callies Sports Club on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, where they will face second-placed Harare City FC in a Matchday 21 fixture scheduled to kick off at 1500 hours.

Confidence within the camp will have received a timely boost following Saturday’s hard-fought cup triumph away from home, a performance that once again highlighted the team’s resilience, discipline and growing maturity.

Coach Wonder Ngoko’s youthful side will now be looking to carry that momentum into league competition as they seek valuable points in their bid to climb the standings.

Harare City head into the encounter as one of the division’s standout performers this season.

The Sunshine Boys currently occupy second place with 36 points from 20 matches, having registered 10 wins, six draws and four defeats.

Their impressive campaign has been built on defensive solidity, with just 10 goals conceded, making them one of the toughest teams to break down in the Northern Region Soccer League.

The hosts remain firmly in contention for promotion and will be eager to strengthen their challenge with another positive result on home soil.

MWOS FC U19, meanwhile, occupy 17th position with 23 points from 20 matches, having recorded six wins, five draws and nine defeats.

While the standings may not fully reflect their performances, the Young Punters have consistently demonstrated their ability to compete against some of the league’s most experienced sides.

Wednesday’s encounter therefore presents another opportunity for the Young Punters to test themselves against one of the league’s promotion favourites while continuing their own pursuit of crucial league points.

Speaking ahead of the match, Head Coach Wonder Ngoko believes his players are prepared for another difficult assignment.

“Harare City are a quality side and we respect what they have achieved this season, but we have prepared well and the players are ready for the challenge. The victory over Chapungu has given us confidence, and we want to build on that performance by producing another disciplined display. Every match is an opportunity for this young group to continue growing, and we travel believing we can achieve a positive result.”

With confidence restored following their Munhumutapa Cup success and another important league challenge ahead, the Young Punters will be aiming to deliver a performance worthy of the club’s ambitions when they take to the field at Callies Sports Club on Wednesday afternoon.
