Young Punters Ready for G&T Mining Test After Ngezi Draw
MWOS FC U19 return to MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League action on Saturday, 22 August, when they travel to face G&T Mining FC in a Matchday 25 encounter.
The Young Punters head into the fixture looking to build on a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Ngezi Stars U19 at MWOS Ngoni Stadium in their previous outing.
That result extended the team’s recent run of competitive performances and offered another reminder of the character within Wonder Ngoko’s young squad.
Now, attention turns to one of the tougher assignments on the current league calendar.
After 24 matches, G&T Mining sit fourth on the MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League table with 39 points.
The Young Punters are 13th with 30 points, having collected eight wins, six draws and 10 defeats.
While the standings give G&T Mining the advantage on paper, MWOS FC U19 have already shown this season that they are capable of competing with Saturday’s opponents.
The reverse fixture between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw at MWOS Ngoni Stadium, with the Young Punters standing firm against a side currently pushing in the upper reaches of the table.
That result will give the visitors confidence as they prepare for another demanding 90 minutes.
The 2-2 draw against Ngezi Stars U19 also provides a timely foundation heading into Matchday 25.
There were positives to take from the performance, but Wednesday presents another opportunity for the Young Punters to turn their growing resilience into a result.
Speaking ahead of the Matchday 25 encounter, Head Coach Wonder Ngoko’s message remains one of belief and consistency, with the coach previously insisting that, “If we keep performing like that, the results will come.”
After the encouraging draw against Ngezi Stars U19, his words will once again resonate with the U19s as they look to translate their positive performances into a result against G&T Mining FC.
Those words will once again carry significance as the U19s prepare to face a G&T Mining side that has won 11 of its 24 league matches.
For MWOS FC U19, the challenge is clear, take the positives from the Ngezi Stars U19 draw, carry the belief gained from the earlier 1-1 meeting with G&T Mine, and produce another performance worthy of the progress the young side continues to show as the season moves into its decisive stretch, where every match presents an opportunity to climb, compete and grow.
